As someone who was homeless myself for a time I'll just say that, while it's a different experience for everyone based on severity, typically that shit teaches you to be as damn grateful and as tolerant as possible, at least it did for me. He's picky, ungrateful, and overall a brat towards anyone who either helps or inconveniences him. Perhaps I should add that I don't need a character to be a paragon of goodness in order to like them or find them interesting, I actually think Gregory's remorselessnsss is an interesting element that I think, if pointed out in the narrative, would have ensured I enjoyed it.Īnother addendum is that I really feel Gregory being without a home and living on the streets was an afterthought and completely contradicts with his behaviors and attitudes in game.

I think Gregory is (in my opinion) my least favorite protagonist in this whole series and considering Michael Afton is also a character in this series, I think that's saying something. The potential of having a child as a main protagonist investigating mysterious disappearances was incredible, but I feel it was squandered. If Freddy actually confronted Gregory about what he'd done there could have been an interesting conflict between the two of them. Freddy clearly cares about his friends, asking if they're okay after he realizes where his upgrades come from, a fact Gregory seems aware of by his refusal to tell the whole truth. Roxy and Monty literally cry in pain after their "boss battles." They are machines, sure, but they aren't unfeeling machines. He literally has a "Joker" moment when he says the bots will "get what they deserve." He says there was an "accident" at the raceway, he says Chica "fell" into a trash compactor and tries to sidestep dropping Monty from a several foot drop which cripples him for the rest of the game. I think the most genuinely awful and "evil" (not really evil evil but kind of) thing Gregory does is purposefully not telling Freddy about how he's obtaining the upgrades.
